The study revealed that Dubai surpassed popular cities such as Paris, Boston, and Madrid.
Dubai took the lead in a new study by the UK-based Premier Inn, revealing that Dubai has emerged as the world's most popular city break destination. Premier Inn believes the principality is desirable in "glorious sunshine and a bright and luxurious lifestyle."
Dubai is home to luxury resorts, high-end retailers, high-end restaurants, and pristine beaches and was the first choice for travelers from 21 countries.
Premier Inn conducted the study using keyword data from Google searches for "things to do..." to identify the most popular city for travelers from each country and analyze a total of 136 cities.
Dubai is known for its city break plans from Asia and Africa. It is the best Google search destination for people in South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Nigeria, India, and the Maldives.
"Holidaymakers want to travel to the United Arab Emirates the most. A total of 21 out of the 136 countries we analyzed showed Dubai as their top searched-for city break destination," according to the report.

Paris is ranked second in the desired urban destination, with travelers from 16 countries keen to visit the city. Third-place Boston is also the most popular city break destination in the United States, topping the list in 12 countries.
According to a Premier Inn representative: "City breaks have always remained a great holiday choice for many, with a mix of landmarks, nightlife, history, and adventure, travelers can experience a range of different activities within a small area thanks to great transport links, meaning tourists can see more in a shorter time frame".
